on Captive Audience
A boy played piano at a public station. A stranger stopped, raised her phone, then lowered it when the tempo slowed. He never noticed. He finished, stood, and smiled.
That was the whole concert. The other one — the hall, the programme, the ticket — went on without him. The poem isn't against that hall. It is full of love that showed up where it was asked to.
It is only about the gap inside the person standing in both rooms: the one who will pay everything to be let in, and the one who already had it all along, and didn't know.
